Potomac Parent is a local, family owned and operated business based in Vienna, Virginia. David and Gayle Greene both grew up in the Washington, DC area – David in Falls Church, Gayle in Bethesda. We have three kids – ages one through seven – and five (soon to be six) nieces and nephews who live between McLean and Potomac.

We started Potomac Parent because we wanted a place where we could go to learn about things to do with our kids, resources that would help us raise healthier, happier children, and a place where we could connect with other similarly inclined parents in the Washington area.

One question we get a lot: is this site only for people who live in Potomac, MD? Another question we get less frequently: is this site only for people whose kids attend the Potomac School? Even less frequently (ok, never) asked: is this site only for parents who like boating on the Potomac River?

The answer to these questions is: nope. We don’t live in Potomac, MD (though it’s a very nice place to live), and our kids don’t go to the Potomac School (though it’s a very nice place to go to school). We chose Potomac Parent as our name because we love the river – we like to think that it unites, rather than divides, the DC area.
